This is the first in a series of blog posts where I’ll be sharing my fascinating journey with ChatGPT-4, an artificial intelligence assistant that’s been blowing my mind and expanding my creative horizons. From songwriting and coding to crafting resources for educators, this AI marvel has helped me tap into new realms of creativity and productivity.

My experiments with ChatGPT-4 have spanned a diverse range of topics, including writing songs and poetry in various styles, crafting engaging copy for websites and emails, testing spam filters, summarising complex texts, debunking misconceptions about asylum seekers, and even adapting content for different audiences.

ChatGPT-4’s versatility doesn’t stop there. I’ve dabbled in coding, app development, and data analysis, with the AI proving itself a valuable asset in deciphering and refining code, iterating on app designs, and mining valuable insights from heaps of data.

Of course, no AI is perfect. There have been challenges, such as missing data and misattributions. But instead of focusing on the pitfalls, I’ve been exploring how to make the most of this technology, navigating its quirks and limitations to unleash its full potential.

One of my favourite experiences has been crafting entries in the style of “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy” using ChatGPT-4. My friend and I found the results genuinely hilarious, showcasing the AI’s ability to grasp language, humour, and even mimic the style of beloved literary works.

Throughout this blog series, I’ll be diving into the ways I’ve used ChatGPT-4 to:

1. My experiments have included, but not limited to:

  • writing songs and poetry, using various inputs and different styles;
  • writing copy text for websites and emails;
  • using it to test for spam;
  • creating synopsis and summary of text;
  • answering questions often asked about asylum seekers, clearing up misconceptions, and asking why questions;
  • rewriting text for different audiences and in different styles. This including writing a guide for 10-13 year olds about neutralisations techniques which was relevant to their understanding and experience, then repackaging this as a resource for educators;
  • created a guide for a more liberal person on how to talk about asylum seekers to those who are more sceptical;
  • to create poetry, or stories, and in different styles, even emulating famous writers or books. This included writing the sort of entries that would be perfectly in keeping with ‘The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.’;
  • coding: looking at explaining code, refactoring code, writing code from scratch, developing apps, and iterating up on a graph database model for an app i had in mind;
  • anlysis and findings from data, getting cross checking and referencing of data, mining for useful or interesting or unusal conclusions;
  1. There are certainly areas which chatGPT4 has problems with, but my aim wasn’t to catch it out, or produce any gotchas, but to see how best I could use the technology; how to work around missing data, misattributions, and so on. My friend and I particularly found the Hitchhikers Guide entries for chatGPT and Google Bard to be genuinely funny. I found its ability to reason both language and code mind blowing, and I could see both its amazing advantages and its possible frightening outcomes for society too.

  2. Things i want to use chatGPT4 for:

  • overall, as an assistant that will help me with anything that my crazy mind comes up with;
  • help writing apps, with coding and speed up development of prototypes and finished products, including updating existing code and websites too;
  • help organsise the digitial cluter in my life, automation of tasks, and reducing the time spent on mundane admin so i can concentrate on exciting creative things;
  • to help my writing skills and output;
  • and lots of ways I’m yet to even imagine! Use british english.
